LBGTQ Rights Movements!

Hello Everyone!
I am a freshman at Eastern Michigan University and as I am sure you can already tell I am taking Introduction to Gender and Sexuality. From this point on I will be talking about Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) movements in the past, present, and the future.
I want to share a little bit of information about myself so you can get a sense of who I am! I am attending school to hopefully become a veterinarian. I come from parents that are divorced but still consider us a close family. I was raised a Catholic but don't identify with any religion currently. Lastly, I have one brother who is homosexual who is a huge supporter in anything I do. So not surprising, I am 100% behind gay marriage and gay rights. With this blog I want to express my own opinions as well as become much more open minded and learn more about the history of LBGTQ movements and just in general. I will admit I know very few things about LGBTQ and their movements to gain their rights, so I am excited to not only learn for the sake of my class but I to learn more for the sake of my beliefs. My goal for my blog post are to inform readers with reliable information but to also express my opinions and views on certain movements. Hope you enjoy!

Welcome To Our Blog!

Hello everyone, and welcome to our blog! We are four students who are currently enrolled at Eastern Michigan University in a course that is called “Intro to Gender and Sexuality.” Each one of us will be discussing a different topic that explores social movements throughout history. Here you will see our personal opinions, and research, on the following topics:

-   The Feminist Movement: Past, Present, and Future
            -   The LGBTQ Rights Movement: Past, Present, and Future
-   Gender, Sexuality and the Civil Rights Movement
-   Gender, Sexuality, and Anti-War/Peace Movements

Since each one of us has different opinions and ideas on the topics that involve the LGBTQ community, you will be getting the individual opinion of the person who is writing for each particular topic. Even if you do not agree with the particular viewpoint that is expressed in our writing, we hope that we are able to inform you and show you why we feel that these topics are important parts of the history of our nation and modern day society. We will do our best to present you with the most up to date information on each topic, and we will look at past events to learn and understand why these social movements took place. In addition to learning why these movements took place we want to explore the impact they have had on our society in the present. We hope that by being able to see patterns in historic events we can try to predict how people will react to LGBTQ and feminist movements as they occur in the future. Whether or not you are a person who agrees with the idea of rights for members of the LGBTQ community, we hope that we are able to show you the ideas and actions of those who believe in equal rights for all Americans regardless of their gender or sexual orientation.
